Educational Resource

The Museum is designed to be a primarily educational experience which will appeal to all ages.

With this in mind the design will include:

  • A Workshop, showing how fossil specimens are prepared

  • Interpretation material giving the visitor an impression of what the specimens would have looked like in life using interactive displays and other media

  • Materials to take away for school projects

  • Regular exhibitions in the Meeting Hall

  • Talks and workshops by the curator and visiting experts

  • Field trips in and around Kimmeridge Bay

  • Close cooperation with the Kimmeridge Marine Centre and other Centres and Museums along the Jurassic Coast encouraging connections beween educational programmes

  • Volunteers to be trained and involved with the running of the museum giving information to visitors and enlivening their experience at the museum
